About Gujarat University

Gujarat University is the oldest university of the state of Gujarat – established over a decade before the formation of the state of Gujarat – and has a rich history of imparting education across the state of Gujarat. The University, to serve the large and entrepreneurial population of Gujarat, was envisioned by the country’s founding fathers including Mahatma Gandhi and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. The Hon’ble Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, is an alum of the university, along with several other notable individuals such as Gautam Adani, Pankaj Patel, Ashis Nandy, etc.

The lush-green university campus is situated across a massive 260 acres of land in the heart of the World Heritage City of Ahmedabad, the Manchester of the East, and the bustling epicentre of trade and commerce of Gujarat. Across Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar and surrounding areas, the University has 286 affiliated institutes, and together around 4,00,000 students are currently enrolled with the university. The university campus is also home to 5 major schools and over 60 academic departments across various disciplines, catering to over 5,000 students on campus with over 100 senior, experienced faculty members employed by the university.
